Maree Laffan is a senior geologist from Australia. Maree has more than 10 years working experience in China. Maree is very good at dancing and she has ever performed ballet in Sydney Opera House. She is also a very good photographer.She has a lovely Chinese name called Ma Lan which is made by Mr. Zhan Shu who is also one of my best friends from Perth. In Chinese, Ma Lan is the name of a kind of beautiful flower in Northwestern China.

Once when Maree and I were in the China Mining Conference in Beijing, a Chinese man suddenly come to us and told me that he recognize this beautiful foreign lady. He said once Maree drove his car to the river several years ago when they were carrying out a field geological investigation in Xinjiang Province. Haw-haw, Maree told me that time she was very confused because she got too many instructions from the guys in the vehicle.

Maree loves China too, and she thinks Xinjiang and Shaanxi are the best place to work. She is a very kind sister to me.

马兰是一个高级地质师，来自澳大利亚。 她在中国有超过10年的工作经验。马兰女士精于舞蹈，曾经在澳大利亚悉尼歌剧院上演芭蕾舞。她还是一个出色的摄影爱好者。我们以前的一个同事，也是我的另外一个最好的朋友湛枢先生给马兰取了这个动人的中文名字。马兰在中文中指的是在我国西北地区的一种花。

有一次我们在北京参加国际矿业大会，一个中国男人突然走近我们说他认识这个漂亮的外国女士！ 他说马兰曾经有一次在新疆开展野外地质考察时将他的车开到河里，哈哈。马兰后来告诉我是由于车上的人同时给她发出太多的方向指导，以至于乱了手脚，呵呵。

马兰热爱中国，她觉得新疆和陕西是她最喜欢去工作的省份。马兰非常敬业、勤奋。她是一个非常好的姐姐。
